Amin Safari
Amin Safari was born in Tehran, capital of Iran. His interest in music began at the age of 6; however never had the chance to pursue it at that age. In search of a better education moved to Sweden and received his Masters in Bio-Medical Engineering from the University of Umea Sweden.
Although he continued in a scientific career, the desire for music was always there. He bought his first guitar at the age of 17 and began learning music on his own. Attended the Folk University in Sweden and received a degree in Classical music. His first music teacher and mentor Tom Huwing taught him all about Classical music.
Amin's enthusiasm to write and perform music led him to form his first band called "Seventh Sign", his inspirations were from Hard Rock bands such as Van Halen, Metalica and AC/DC. After a few years he formed another band called "Sceleton Crew", they released their first album "Mummified" in 1997 which was recorded at Garageland Records. In Concurrent with “Sceleton Crew”, he also formed an Iranian band Called “Atash”; they had many live performances in Sweden.
The journey continues as he moves to the US at the end of 1999. He took some time to explore the states before taking a job as a scientist in Houston Texas. He fills his spare time by giving private guitar lessons and also performing with famous Iranian artists.
Finally, Amin's fascination with learning different styles of music steered him toward Flamenco. His inspirations were from famous artists such as Vicente Amigo and Paco De Lucia. Passion for Flamenco techniques leads him to compose modern fusion music.
In his seven years of living in Houston, Amin has written an abundance of music and has performed with many artists. His upcoming album features a young artist, Haleh Fotowat; she learned Kanun in Iran under the guidance of Maliheh Saeedi. She was a member of the national plucked string instruments orchestra. Her primary training has been in traditional Iranian music; however, she is interested in fusion and combining different music styles.
His latest album "A Different Tune" was released on October 2008.
