Salut! My name is Pearson and I'm a new user from Winnipeg, Canada. I'm a 19 year-old university student in... no program in particular, but my hope is to go on eventually into environmental design and further to Urban Planning. I currently work as a "Clinic Navigator" as a part of the province of Manitoba's vaccination efforts against COVID-19, and am a volunteer with far too many different organizations.

I have several fairly different interests (and often only moderate knowledge in each subject)... my biggest ones probably being Politics and Law, Urban planning and design, public transportation, Music (of most varieties, but especially orchestral or wind ensemble), and linguistics.

I've had my ins-and-outs with the healthcare system throughout my life - was born with a somewhat rare hemoglobinopathy called HB Castilla.[1] I've gone through a Splenectomy, a Cholecystectomy, dozens of blood transfusions, years of prophylactic antibiotics, and almost a bone marrow transplant in relation to that. I also have had Crohn's Disease since 2016, and have been treated for that using 5-ASA, Infliximab, and now Adalimumab.

Conflict of Interest

[edit]

Though I rather despise partisanship, I have somewhat ironically found myself wrapped up in partisan politics (and unfortunately enjoy it) - currently I serve on the volunteer executive[2] of the Green Party of Manitoba, and am a member and volunteer with the federal party as well. Since I quite often volunteer in non-partisan spaces, I like to think I am sufficiently experienced to discuss these topics from a neutral point of view, though I acknowledge that I do have inherent biases and as such will avoid making any significant contributions anyway. The only thing is that many articles for smaller (ie. provincial) green parties are out of date and poor-quality (and rarely tended to)... So I think I may end up trying to make some improvements to some of these articles, while staying clear of more prominent articles such as that of the GPC. Please feel free to advise me if you have any suggestions as to procedure here. I am in the process of researching applicable policy.

It probably isn't a great look to be a new Wikipedian and already declaring COI and making COI edits, but I would like to assure any onlookers that I do intend to primarily do writing and editing of articles to which I am not related... I just haven't gotten around to doing anything major yet since school and mental health have been a hassle this year (I'm sure many can relate).
