No Bottomless Cup of Coffee at Wikipedia

[edit]

My approach to WP:AGF

The "bottomless cup of coffee" is no more, a thing of yesteryears. I know of no restaurant where you can sit down, and for the price of a single cup of coffee, drink cup after cup, with all the sugar and cream you want, ask the waiter to wipe up your spills, use the restroom, talk on your cell phone, and stay without ordering a meal. If you show me such a place, I'll bet you dollars to doughnuts the coffee is no good.

The same is true of "Assume Good Faith." This philosophy is important, but it does not stand on its own. It does not operate in a vaccuum independently of other actions. It has its limits. When it is used to justify repeated, endless, violations of intellectual dishonesty, deliberate obtuseness, and uncooperative behavior, it constitutes abuse, and any self-respecting editor should make no apologies for assuming bad faith. It is the only really wise approach to giving AGF real value with other editors -- the only way to avoid turning AGF into a really crappy cup of coffee.

Please do not abuse AGF when working with me. I am extremely bright, and I don't miss many tricks. When I do, I have the benefit of time, an unforgiving edit history, and many friends to help point out my error.

Political Editors

[edit]

We need a new code among ourselves, mostly drawn from official policy

  • No whining of any kind on the talk page.
  • Take all non-content discussions and remarks to a user page, no exceptions
  • Attack, vandal, no more use of those words. Find more accurate descriptives
  • All sides to exact standards
  • Any accusation of "attack" or "vandal" must either be filed, or not made
    • Do not use attack as a catch-all word
    • Quote the text which is the attack
    • Ask the attacker to remove it
    • Accept his apology
  • No slams, denigrations, . Keep opinions about the subect
  • Respect for the subject as an encylopedia topic.
  • Behave on this page exactly as you would expect
  • Log violations
