My name is Paul E. McKenney. I work at the IBM Linux Technology Center, with interests in Linux (naturally), concurrency, and Read-copy-update (RCU). I am the maintainer of the RCU implementations in the Linux kernel, and a contributor to the user-level RCU implementation that Mathieu Desnoyers maintains. Before my time with IBM, I worked at Sequent Computer Systems on the DYNIX/ptx kernel and at SRI International as a systems administrator and later on internet research.

My main interest in Wikipedia is maintaining and helping with pages related to concurrency, primarily RCU. I am one of the inventors of RCU, and RCU was the subject of my Ph.D. dissertation.

PaulMcKenney has an academic degreespecialist degree.
