Pietrusewsky’s research focuses on biological distance studies[2] that apply multivariate statistical methods to traditional morphometric data for reconstructing historical biological relationships of the inhabitants of the Pacific-Asia region.  His research also focuses on other topics in bioarchaeology[3] that have contributed to our understanding of health, diet, and lifestyle of the early inhabitants of Southeast Asia, East Asia and the Pacific[4]. His research in Southeast Asia includes studies of Early Metal Age skeletons from Non Nok Tha[5] and the World heritage site of Ban Chiang[6][7][8][9]in northeast Thailand.
