Quick reference list of criteria for reviewing DYK nominations -- see the rules for details

Article

  1. Long enough – the prose portion is at least 1500 characters
  2. Created (sandbox → mainspace is eligible) or prose portion expanded at least fivefold in the last 5 days (special situation: a 2x expansion qualifies if the article is a BLP that was completely unreferenced before expansion)
  3. Within policy – meets core policies and guidelines, in particular: neutral POV, adequately supported by inline citations, and is free of copyright violations and plagiarism

Hook

  1. Length less than 200 characters (shorter is better) and format meets the formatting guidelines
  2. Hook fact(s) included in the article, supported by inline citation(s) to reliable source(s), and verified by checking the sources (OK to assume good faith for offline or foreign-language sources)
  3. Interesting
  4. Neutral POV and no undue focus on negative aspects of living people

Other

  1. Quid pro quo (QPQ) review – if the nominator has more than five DYK credits and is nominating their own article, they must review another article.
  2. Image (if proposed for DYK use) must be free (no fair use), be used in the article, and show up well at the 100 × 100px size.
