In the National Hockey League (NHL), a playoff sweep consists of winning all games and losing none. Since 1939, when the NHL playoffs went to the best-of-seven format, there have been 20 sweeps in Stanley Cup Finals history.[1]

Instances where sweeps were prevented

1945 Stanley Cup Finals | Detroit Red Wings | Toronto Maple Leafs | Detroit nearly got revenge on Toronto for a blown 3–0 lead three years previously. |
2024 Stanley Cup Finals | Edmonton Oilers | Florida Panthers | Florida won their first Stanley Cup in franchise history. Edmonton forward and captain Connor McDavid became only the sixth player to win the Conn Smythe Trophy despite losing the Finals. |
