The Bolivian chinchilla rat is the smallest member of the Abrocoma genus, and is identifiable to scientists by its longer, furrier tail than the other members of its genus. [1]

The Bolivian chinchilla rat (Abrocoma boliviensis) is a species of chinchilla rat in the family Abrocomidae.The Bolivian chinchilla rat is the smallest member of the Abrocoma genus, and is identifiable to scientists by its longer, furrier tail than the other members of its genus. [1] It is found only in Manuel María Caballero Province, Bolivia. Its natural habitat is the rocky areas of cloud forests in Bolivia's interior.
