COVID-19 Policies

[edit]

During the COVID-19 pandemic, Castor offered transportation for people on Medicaid to get the Covid vaccine at no cost. She also made many Mayoral and Executive Orders during the pandemic such as Executive Order 2021-46 which introduced the Lift Up Local Economic Recovery Program. This allowed restaurants, bars, and retail spaces to expand their outdoor seating onto parking lots and sidewalks.

Super Bowl 55

[edit]

During the pandemic, Tampa hosted Super Bowl LV. Twenty-two thousand spectators were allowed to attend the Super Bowl, instead of the total capacity of 75,000. During the week of the Super Bowl, the city enforced a face mask ordinance inside the bars. Castor signed an executive order mandating the use of face coverings outdoors in areas downtown and near the stadium designated for events tied to the Super Bowl.
