Test Appendex

[edit]

I wonder if an appendix to the Mathematical Induction article might be helpful. The Example dealing with the Sum of consecutive natural numbers leaves out a few steps. It really depends who the article is written for. If written for someone familiar with algebra the deleted steps are not necesary, but if written for a novice they might be helpful. The solutution skips from expreessing the proof as (k(k+1)+2(k+1))/2 to (k+1)(k+2)/2 . In order to do this step one has to be aware of the rules for Polynomial expansion and the Quadratic equation. The proposedd Appendix to the arrticle would explicitly state these steps. Of less imporrtance is that this topic appears briefly in popular culture during the TV series ″Person of Interest". Harold Finch is acting as a substitute Hiigh School algebra teacher and mentions exactly this problem. He discovers that a bright student already knows the solution but will not volunter his knowledge.
