Comments by User:mabdul
[edit]Hi, I post now some comments per request in the IRC office hour. To improve the actual AFC system, it would be really useful, that the bugzilla:31919 could be solved so that the user have click only a button/link to get a new review (actual system: click link and hit save). That would also improve the situation in other wikiprojects.
The AFC reviewing tool is at User:Timotheus Canens/afchelper4.js (a redirect at User:Tim Song/afchelper4.js) and to improve our situation with the backlog, it would be helpful that this tool becomes a gadget so we might get more reviewers.

Ps:(more will follow)
Some useful comments can also be seen at: Wikipedia_talk:WikiProject_user_warnings/Testing/Draft_space#Comments_by_User:mabdul. It is like the whole year: The WMF has some great new idea and start working on it without thinking to ask the actual user of the system. The redesign and working of the template is not a bad idea, but why isn't that done in the AFC project? Why wasn't we ask before the WMF started to do anything, what should be improved? mabdul 11:56, 5 December 2011 (UTC)
Oh although that might be handled by some experienced user: it would be useful that we get an edit filter to track the AFC submissions that were moved by the submitter. (actual example at The Greenwood Encyclopedia of African American Folklore) But even if we have such a filter, we would need more reviewers who can look at that, since we are again at 464 open submissions which should get reviewed (+WP:AFC/R and +WP:FFU) although the Project is mentioned in the actual Signpost. mabdul 11:59, 5 December 2011 (UTC)
As already mentioned in the IRC chat: many reviewers feel very disappointed about the WMF decisions and the WP:ACTRIAL which is/was directly involved with AFC. A really good and long comment by User:Kudpung is at the bottom of mw:Talk:Article_creation_workflow#MoodBar_comments, but also on the complete talkpage since many try to change the decision the WMF/developers did. - Crosspost from Wikipedia_talk:WikiProject_user_warnings/Testing/Draft_space#Comments_by_User:mabdul [...] At the moment there - for example - a proposal to remove the "create directly the article page" (the thrid option) in the article wizard. (link to the "last" step in the wizard) As I talked in the IRC to Steven Walling and Ironholds, it would be great to get an improvement in the actual AFC tool for informing related WikiProjects (I was thinking on a drop-down menu like in Twinkle's globalize tagging) for getting help by the projects - especially if the article is declined. mabdul 17:12, 7 December 2011 (UTC)
- By the way: I made a request for another edit filter at Wikipedia:Edit_filter/Requested#Preventing_AFC.2FR_empty_submissions at the 11th October of 2011 - still no answer... mabdul 17:14, 7 December 2011 (UTC)
- Oh by the way: The AFC helper tool should be expanded for WP:FFU in two ways: simple reviewing (without uploading images) (most work since most requests/edits are declines and asking, etc) and in a second way to upload images by URL (at the moment of writing forbidden/not possible since it is deactivated at enwp/commons). mabdul 14:47, 15 December 2011 (UTC)
- Just getting this up to date: I striked that part that the AFCH should get a gadget since the community get a consensus on that part. The FFU reviewing part is still on my list to develop (on my own), but uploading by URL is still not resolved for us. mabdul 16:01, 9 July 2012 (UTC)
