Climate Investigations Center (CIC) was founded by "researcher and climate advocate"[1] Kert Davies who is also the CIC's director.[2]

According to The New York Times, The Center's obtained records showing that Exxon Mobil had provided $2 million in funding to the Competitive Enterprise Institute and its "affiliated foundations", as part of their support of "organizations that undercut climate science."[2]

In March 2019 CIC published its "Trade Associations and the Public Relations Industry" report. According to a March 14, 2019 interview with Kert Davies by Huffington Post's Chris d'Angelo, CIC data showed that "[f]ossil fuel and other corporate trade groups paid public relations and advertising firms at least $1.4 billion from 2008 to 2017 to help them win over the American public".
