Tone and Balance

[edit]
Guiding questions

    • Yes, states facts about grilled cheese without a strong opinion from the author
  • Are there any claims that appear heavily biased toward a particular position?
    • No, there doesn't seem to be a bias
  • Are there viewpoints that are overrepresented, or underrepresented?
    • No, but the article also does not lend itself to overrepresent viewpoints (it's just presenting facts about grilled cheese)
  • Does the article attempt to persuade the reader in favor of one position or away from another?
    • No, doesn't say anything about how much the author or reader does/should like grilled cheese. It's very fact-based

Tone and balance evaluation

[edit]

Tone is neutral and balanced, but this is likely a result of the topic (there isn't much room to put bias into an article about grilled cheese)

Sources and References

[edit]
Guiding questions
  • Are all facts in the article backed up by a reliable secondary source of information?
    • Yes, it mainly cites newspaper articles on grilled cheese. There is one section though (preparation) that only has one citation and maybe would have benefited from more sources
  • Are the sources thorough - i.e. Do they reflect the available literature on the topic?
    • I believe so - I imagine most information about grilled cheeses would come from newspapers or food websites like the Food Network
  • Are the sources current?
    • Mostly, there is one source from 1999 but it was used in the "History" section so I think it makes sense
  • Are the sources written by a diverse spectrum of authors? Do they include historically marginalized individuals where possible?
    • It's hard to tell. There are women in the sources, but I'm not sure how diverse the authors are and haven't found information on them from searching them online
  • Check a few links. Do they work?
    • Yes, all the links work

Sources and references evaluation

[edit]

I think the sources are good, but there could be a few more in the "preparation" section. Also, I can't tell if the sources include a diverse spectrum of authors, but this could also be a function of the topic of grilled cheese

    • Yes, they are neatly organized on the right side

Images and media evaluation

[edit]

Images are nice visual supplements to the content

Checking the talk page

[edit]
Guiding questions
  • What kinds of conversations, if any, are going on behind the scenes about how to represent this topic?
    • Someone thought the article should not have been split off from the article on "Cheese Sandwiches" and wanted to combine the two again; someone thought Cheddar should be lowercase
  • How is the article rated? Is it a part of any WikiProjects?
    • It's rated C-Class and is part of WikiProjects Food and Drink
  • How does the way Wikipedia discusses this topic differ from the way we've talked about it in class?
    • The talk page isn't very critical of the actual content of the article or it's organization and doesn't seem to be very productive

Talk page evaluation

[edit]

I think the talk page is fine, but it didn't provide any clear/ relevant critiques beyond someone thinking the article should be combined with another one. I think more productive comments on the content would be helpful
