Holden Commodore model year changes

[edit]

Holden no longer produces "Series II" updates for the Commodore. Instead, they have changed to a model year (MY) system, as shown in the VIN codes. This is to combat poor sales residuals, partially influence by the almost annual updating of the Commodore range. Rather than implementing the changes all at once, the updates are to be introduced over time, as shown below.

MY05 – August 2004

[edit]
  • Original VZ release.

MY05.5 – February 2005

[edit]
  • SV6: $500 price rise.
  • SV8: gains body kit and wheels (identical to the SV6), fog lamps, leather wrap steering wheel, power windows all round, side impact airbags and sports styled or optional leather trim, $2,000 price rise.
  • SS: climate control, a dash-top storage compartment and twin fold-out cup holders, $300 price rise.

MY06 – January 2006

[edit]
  • 6.0 litre Generation 4 V8 engine replaces 5.7 litre Gen III V8 to comply with Euro III emission standards.
  • 3.6 litre Alloytec V6 detuned from 175 to 172 kilowatts to comply with Euro III emission standards.

MY07 – July 13, 2006

[edit]
  • Original VE release.

MY08 – April 2007

[edit]
  • Key fob: for model without the "flip-out key", the fast-wearing, soft, recessed buttons are now raised and made of a more durable plastic.
  • Berlina: wood grain strip replaced by silver strip.

MY08.5 – August 2007

[edit]
  • Coincided with launch of VE Ute.
  • Exterior colours: "Atomic", metallic green; "Crunch", metallic yellow with a hint of green; "K-Pow", metallic blue with a hint of purple.

MY09 – March 15, 2008

[edit]
  • Six airbags standard across entire range.
  • Omega, Berlina, Calais, Calias V: exterior colour "Karma".
  • Omega: air conditioning, 16 inch alloy wheels, chrome grille, body coloured side mirrors and exterior door handles.
  • SV6, SS, SS V: exterior colour "Voodoo", "Voodoo" interior dash option.
  • Calais, Calais V: alloy wheel designs.
  • July 2008: Sportwagon release.

MY9.5 – October 21, 2008

[edit]
  • All instrument cluster needle illumination commonised to white.
  • Turn-by-turn satellite navigation option deleted.
  • Omega, Berlina: "Premium" Alloytec V6 standardised (175 kilowatts, 325 Newton metres).
  • Berlina: V8 engine option deleted.
  • Calais, Calais V, Statesman: fixed (non-sliding) arm rest and open bin type door pocket (replaces hinged type)
  • Sportwagon: reversing camera option.
  • Omega sedan: five-star ANCAP safety rating (from four). Holden’s standardisation of six-airbags in March 2008 made the VE eligible for the ANCAP side pole test, yielding additional scoring points. The second stage of the VE’s safety roll out included the addition of an energy absorbing steering column shroud, assisting in reduced driver knee injuries and redesigned rear door latches across the VE range. The inclusion of a seat belt reminder on the Omega sedan yielded another point, thus allowing the Omega sedan to score five-stars.

MY10 – March 2009

[edit]
  • Space-saver spare wheel replaced by two no-cost options: either a lightweight tyre inflater kit, or a full-size spare wheel (previously a $350 option). Sportwagon Calais V and SS V variants receive an alloy spare wheel if the full-size spare is chosen, with the remainder of the line-up receiving a steel wheel spare.
