RE:1967 last combat flight from CamRahn Bay Viet Nam QE1 did not get airborne becuz of dropped Sunstrand generator-flight was reassigned to QE-8 Crew 8 LCDR William Gilbert was PC and RADM John Hyland was taken from QE-1 to QE-8 RADM John Hyland took over as PC and LCDR Gilbert was kicked back to Flight Engineer.Someone in Family of LCDR Gilbert or VADM (now) John Hyland must have some record or journal of this event so that the record can be corrected and the proper Crew-8 be given the recognition we all deserve.I was 1st tech in Crew 8 from 1966 thru 1967 andd decommissioned at NAS NORIS SAN DIEGO CA at which time I got orders to VS-33 and made the West Pac as combat aircewman shortly after the NKs got the Pueblo. While on board as part of CAG 59 (memory fades) I got 100-Hooks without a bolter-to get 100-hooks you have to takeoff fly the op and then come back to USS Bennington CVS-20 short note 2-of the survivors of the Pueblo are from my home town whom I met when I was with inquiry board NAB Coronado where CDR lloyd Bucher was being questioned.Just added that to give some historic perspective-this edit will probably be cut up by editors?
