Trauma system therapy (TST) is a technique that helps children dealing with post-traumatic stress. TST deals with all the social and external influences that contribute to post-traumatic stress disorder. Childrens Hospital in Boston have been doing research on this disorder and have found that one hundred and twenty four children have this disorder and their age ranges from three to twenty years old. The reachers also analyzed the hospital rate for children before and after TST and assesing them for twelve to fifteen month of treatment and tested them on their emotional stability and their psychosocial functioning.
The studys was a success and proved to improve the childrens emotions, strength, and social-evironmental stability. The reasearchers showed how much these treatments worked and showed how much the hospitilization numbers changed. The hospital numbers were cut in half and all of the children continued to be stable in their later years. Traumas can affect children dramatically in their life and can cause a burden and affect how they live their lives as they progress further in age. All the children's need support, security and love in their lives which can over come their disorder in life. --Ncathey17 (talk) 22:10, 7 December 2011 (UTC)
Trauma system therapy
[edit]Trauma system therapy (abbreviated TST) is a individually based method for treating children and adolescents who suffer from a traumatic stress in their life. TST involves two elements:
- the child or adolescent who is suffering from the traumatic stress
- recognizing that the environment the child or adolescent is living within is unsuccessfully helping them cope with their traumatic stress
The main goal of Trauma system therapy is relieve the child of their traumatic stress which allows them to function normally within their environment. Various steps are taken in the TST approach, each being implemented depending on the severity of the child's stress. After the child has successfully overcome their traumatic stress, the TST approach calls for regular evaluations to ensure continued success.[1]
Trauma Systems Therapy treatment is not just for those who suffer from traumatic stress. It also educates the victims' significant others in order for them to support those suffering in their recovery and help them control their emotions during future stressful events.[2]
