Elikana Elimeleki Chirwa

A sukuma chief who fought the Germans in 1807

Chief Elikana Chirwa also known as Nkunku Ng'wana mbate, was born at a small village of Gambushi in Simiyu Region. He lived most of his life in the forest despite been born in a loving home. Early accounts say that, he ran away from his home at the age of 8 escaping taking showers since he viewed it as a brutal way of life. He is most famous for his phrase "Mwanaume Kaza!"
