Ruby is a 1993 Gothic horror novel by Andrew Neiderman writing under the pen name of V. C. Andrews. It is the first book in the Landry series. Set in the Louisiana bayou, it centers a teenage girl named Ruby Landry who discovers her father is a New Orleans aristocrat and goes to meet her biological family.[1]
Plot
[edit]Ruby Landry is a 15-year old girl living in the Louisiana bayou with her Grandmere Catherine, her alcoholic Grandpere Jack living in a separate cabin. She is in love with Paul Tate, a boy from a wealthy family. Paul invites Ruby to a fais dodo, but the celebration is cut short when they are forced to escort a drunken Grandpere Jack home. Ruby soon finds out Paul is her half-brother and she is in fact one of a pair of twins separated at birth. Ruby goes to New Orleans to meet her biological family and discovers her twin, Gabrielle, is evil.
