Bugarija

A bugarija /bugareːjaː/ is a traditional Croat[citation needed] folk chordophone. It is somewhat like a guitar, having 4-6 strings. It is a typical instrument for accompanying chords in a song, because of that, it often counters the berda. Depending on the size and tuning of the instrument, the sound of the bugarija is sometimes "higher''[citation needed] than the sound of the guitar.

The bugarija is slightly longer than other similar tamburicas, among which it is the most similar to an E-Brac, which is slightly larger. The total length of the Bugarija is 1020 – 1040 millimeters. The length of the body is 466 – 490 millimeters. At its widest part, the body is 350-384 millimeters and 83-86 millimeters high.

It is most often made of maple, fraxinus (ash) or willow.
