Evaluate an article

[edit]

This is where you will complete your article evaluation. Please use the template below to evaluate your selected article.

  • Name of article: ("Iron Man")
  • Briefly describe why you have chosen this article to evaluate.
    • I love Marvel characters and animations, specifically Iron Man.

Lead

[edit]
Guiding questions
  • Does the Lead include an introductory sentence that concisely and clearly describes the article's topic?
  • Does the Lead include a brief description of the article's major sections?
  • Does the Lead include information that is not present in the article?
  • Is the Lead concise or is it overly detailed?

Lead evaluation

[edit]
  • The Lead is decently put together. I'm a bit skeptical if the last sentence is necessary but it's open to suggestions.
  • The Lead mentions the main things descriptive of Iron Man but not all the things mentioned in the article.
  • The Lead is a bit short but it is descriptive enough.

Content

Guiding questions
  • Is the article's content relevant to the topic?
  • Is the content up-to-date?
  • Is there content that is missing or content that does not belong?

Content evaluation

[edit]
  • The article's content is up to date and its edit history is active with recent edits.
  • Last edit was just a few days ago!
  • The content speaks about Supporting Characters and Other versions but these are not mentioned in the Lead.

Guiding questions
  • Is the article neutral?
  • Are there any claims that appear heavily biased toward a particular position?
  • Are there viewpoints that are over represented, or underrepresented?

Tone and balance evaluation

[edit]
  • The article's vocabulary and terms were neutral and did not convey any bias.
  • The article was straight to the point and factual. No opinions or exaggerations.

  • Are the sources thorough - i.e. Do they reflect the available literature on the topic?
  • Are the sources current?
  • Check a few links. Do they work?

Sources and references evaluation

[edit]
  • The article references many credible sources and has many in line citations
  • The talk page mentions some issues with protection for the page.
  • The article has a "lock icon" on the top right of the page that symbolizes protection. If you run your cursor over the icon, it states "this article is semi-protected."

  • Does the article have any grammatical or spelling errors?
  • Is the article well-organized - i.e. broken down into sections that reflect the major points of the topic?

Organization evaluation

[edit]
  • The article is well written and very informative of the topic.
  • The article is organized with categories and subcategories
  • The Lead does not mention much of the biography or history of Iron Man so I can't say the article explains stuff or sections mentioned in the lead.

Images and Media

[edit]
Guiding questions
  • Does the article include images that enhance understanding of the topic?
  • Are images well-captioned?
  • Do all images adhere to Wikipedia's copyright regulations?
  • Are the images laid out in a visually appealing way?

Images and media evaluation

[edit]
  • Yes, the article includes images but most of the images are from the comic series; not much from the movies or cartoons.
  • I recommend much more images! Yes, it may be hard to find pictures that are legally allowed by Wikipedia, but I think its vital.
  • Images should lure the reader in, not only for visual appreciation but for a better understanding of the topic.

  • How is the article rated? Is it a part of any WikiProjects?
  • How does the way Wikipedia discusses this topic differ from the way we've talked about it in class?
