Bolbam Dham (Nepali: बोलबम धाम) is a hindu temple in Rupandehi district of western Nepal. The temple complex consists of Shiva Pancyyan, Ganesh-Parvati temple, Laxmi Narayana temple, Radhakrishna temple, Sanoshimata temple. There are 108 shivalingas and a idol of shiva. The temple is the first to start shravani mela in Nepal. Also, the first Shiva jyotilinga was estabilished in this temple. The main festival of the temple starts in the month of Shravan every year. About 30 thousands pilgrims visit the temple every monday during Shravan month. Pilgrims also visit the temple during Janai Purnima for Shrawani Mela. Pilgrims are hindu followers from Nepal and India. A postal stamp was issued in 2073BS showing the imagery of Shiva Jyotirlinga by Nepal Government.

History

The religious significance of the place is belived to be contempory or prior to that of Lumbini. The parents of Buddha are belived to visit the shivalinga of this temple.

About 150 years ago, there was a ruin of shiva temple at the location where the temple sits now. A local Chandavan Chaudhary found a shivalinga near the area. He tried to dig it upto its bottom but he was unable to dig it completely, so he started construing a temple surrounding the linga. However, Chaudhary died before the temple was completed. Later a priest who was apointed to look after the temple died as well. So the temple was abandoned and turned into ruins. In 2035, a naga hermit from India came to stay in the current temple complex. He improved the land and started to build the temple. In 2045BS, the temple of shiva paschyaana was constructed. From 2049, jalaparna ritual was started. In 2053BS, rapid development works has been initiated to make it a religious destination.

Budget from central and local government is provided for the construction works of temple.
