The video game characters task force maintains 741 articles, of which 50 have been determined by the project to be the "core" characters, identified as the "most important" video game characters. This importance refers to the characters with either the most cultural consciousness or critical acclaim behind them, the "vital" video game characters if you will. Adding or removing characters after the initial set is determined will be reverted, as a consensus will be needed.

Please note that these characters are not the ones needing the most dire work, but rather are simply the most iconic and therefore "important" ones. You are not mandated to work on these articles over one not on this list.

For demonstration, I chose the current Top-importance characters to use as a demonstration of how the list will be formatted. This list is obviously subject to change.
