NMCheadache is an Eagle Scout, selected by Senator Levin as an alternate candidate to the Annapolis Naval Academy, and a 30 year observer of Northwestern Michigan College. Graduating with three associate degrees from the school. A past member of the Student Government, the student newspaper, the student radio station and a Phi Theta Kappa member. NMC Headaches graduated summa cum laude from Central Michigan University in 2002 with a BS in Community Development. I served with the VISTA program as a community development facilitator.

As the General Manager and later as Development Director for WNMC-FM from 1985-1991, I developed strong community support for the student-operated radio station. The community's desire for a power increase at WNMC-FM was consistently thwarted by administrators who threatened to "pull the plug on the station" if we did not stop pressing the issue. In 1991, when fundraising for the station was prevented by administrators, I resigned my position as Development Director.

I continued to serve as a disc jockey until 1993, when the college administrators improperly removed me from my show, The Mad Hatter's Radio Tea-Party. This was done as a reprisal for my informing the local newspaper that the college was secretly discussing the sale of the radio station's license to another college. Subsequently, the radio station's Constitution, its management and its programming were taken from the students.

Since 1993 I have been subjected to harassment and discrimination by the college administrators. This includes the improper use of police force to prevent me from exercising my right to free speech on campus. The college has a history of deceitful acts including the creation of knowingly false documents used to defend their violations of my constitutional rights.

The most reprehensible act of the administrators was to improperly change college due process policy to exclude all non-academic students from the due process safeguards. This was done in 2004 to prevent my hearing regarding discrimination. This discrimination complaint was filed when the college President forbid me to participate with the student newspaper. His action was a clear violation of the Student Journalists Rights Policy.

This college has frequently violated the Federal Education Right to Privacy Act by releasing my educational records. Also they improperly destroyed records on myself that they had classified as "educational records". In fact these documents included posters, poems, letters to the editor, and student government campaign posters. Also included in these records were deliberately false and libelous memos and notes from college staff members.

I have filed several complaints with the Dept. of Education and the college's accrediting body, The Higher Learning Commission. These agencies have offered "advice" to the college on how to properly observe the criteria and rules they are meant to enforce. However, the college has never been sanctioned or fined for their bad behavior.

I continue to be a watchdog, critic and voice for reform of the governance of Northwestern Michigan College.
