From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Stuart Walton is a British cultural historian, journalist, author and wine columnist.

He has contributed to publications such as The Guardian, Decanter,[1] thelondonpaper, and reviews books for The World of Fine Wine.[2]

Out of It: A Cultural History of Intoxication, and You Heard It Through the Grapevine, with the supplemental title Shattering the Myths About the Wine Business, were both selected by The Guardian as "Pick of the week".[3][4]

[5]

Frank J. Prial of The New York Times took issue with Walton's "ultimate and rather arch conclusion that intoxication is fundamentally harmless, often beneficial, and as such should be free of any legal or moral restraint".[6]

Andrew Jefford has suggested Walton is perhaps the "most vociferous critic" of the IMW.[7]
