The 2040 United States presidential election was the 65th quadrennial presidential election, held on Tuesday, November 6, 2040. Incumbent Republican president Ron DeSantis and his running mate, Nikki Haley, lost their reelection bid to former Vice President Pete Buttigieg and his running mate, Maxwell Frost; Vivek Ramaswamy, the Donald J. Trump (DJT) Party ticket, and his running mate, Josh Hawley, also ran against DeSantis and Buttigieg.

After losing, DeSantis called Buttigieg to formally concede the election and congratulate him; Ramaswamy, after losing, claimed the election was rigged in Buttigieg's favor and called out DeSantis for splitting the conservative vote, despite the fact that the combined electoral votes of DeSantis and Ramaswamy was less than Buttigieg's sole total.
