About me

[edit]

History and video games are two main interests of mine. I'm always curious as to how the 21st century compares to the past as it is quite fascinating to learn how us human beings managed to get to this particular part of time and of the technological advances towards the modern era. Additionally, my preferred types of video games are story-driven games, cooperative action games and shooters. Did you know that video games can improve some of the brain's cognitive functions?[1]

My Wikipedia Interests

[edit]

I use Wikipedia for a lot of my research projects whether it be something very obscure or something very well known, Wikipedia would be one of my first sought out sources. If I were to contribute to the Wikipedia space, I would help provide information on video games and computer software. Most importantly, what I hope to accomplish as a potential volunteer is outputting factual info.

Article Evaluation

[edit]

Staying true to my interest in history and the events that would lead to present day, I of course would search for an article relating to a historical topic. By digging through a few highly-developed articles, I visited the Chu Lai Base Area article on Wikipedia, and found three aspects of it worth commenting on: its dead links, its citations of reliable sources, and its voice.

[edit]

Throughout the article, there is a noticeable amount of citations that lead to dead links, especially in the list of units beneath the "1967" heading. Perhaps these dead links could be recited in order to improve the reader's experience and to not have any citations leading to dead links unless there's an existing site to support the subject.

Reliable Sources

[edit]

Going through the article's sources, they all look to be reliable sources being that they're official documents from the United States military or are from primary sources that lived through and documented the details. Knowing this, the majority of the article's sources being primary sources does support the article's status of being trustworthy.

Voice

[edit]

The article makes good use of a neutral tone to output facts relating to the Chu Lai Base Area. This is evident in the case that there is an absence of emotional adjectives, and the article lacks any personal input. Furthermore, the article is clear and concise about the events that occurred in the Chu Lai Base Area and does so in a way that does not reflect the editor's personal beliefs while also providing details of these events.

Conclusion

[edit]

Overall, while the article does possess dead links that may prove to be small distractions, it can be fixed through a simple edit. Even then, the reliable sources used to create this article and the neutral tone of voice brings this article's rating to a "good" and is a worthwhile read for those interested in the topic.
