A 'registered nurse (RN) is a nurse who has graduated from a nursing program and met the requirements outlined by a country or state licensing body in order to obtain a nursing license.^[1] An RN's scope of practice is determined by local legislation governing nurses, and usually regulated by a professional body or council.

Registered nurses are employed in a wide variety of professional settings, often specializing in their field of practice. They may be responsible for supervising care delivered by other healthcare workers including enrolled nurses, licensed practical nurses, unlicensed assistive personnel, nursing students, and less-experienced RNs

Registered nursing (RN) requires a large base of knowledge used to assess, plan and intervene to promote health, prevent disease and help patients cope with illness. When providing direct patient care, nurses observe, assess and record symptoms, reactions and progress, which provides the basis for care planning and intervention. They are health educators and advocates for patients, families and communities.

Registered nurses treat patients and help prevent diseases, educate patients and the public to medical conditions and health issues . they also provide advice and emotional support to patients family members mentally and physically . its very important that someone thinking about going into this field maps out the pros and cons of the different areas of nursing. more than likely gender will play a big role in making the decision in choosing the specific area of RN. For example, the strength of a man is more needed in the physical therapy area. while the very soft and caring touch of a woman is more in the care of babies. regardless of what type of nurse you want to be a nurse must like people and want to help them with no problem. they also must be patience, honest,have good judgement  be ,responsible, and be able to work with other very easily. registered nursing is one of the most important jobs because you're taking care of people and maintain their health.In this essay I will describe and explain what a registered nurse is, their education and certification, employment, and professional activities
