Definition

Urban Dictionary defines pugly as "so ugly it's cute, like a pug and/or so helpless it's cute", "something that is so ugly it is known as being cute", etc.

The obvious connection with unattractiveness and cuteness makes it seem like pugliness is an oxymoron. And that's because it is. Pugs are known for being funny, and insults against them, and other dogs, are said to criticise them for their facial features. This includes: wrinkles, their eyes (the direction they might be looking at/in) and other stuff.
