Ingenio et Arte: For Spirit and Art or For Science and Art? Actually "For Inspiration and Art" may be a better translation than either.

end of first para, need ref

Could from the beginning be awarded to both men and women. This was an exception to most other Danish decorations and honours such as the Order of the Dannebrog and the Order of the Elephant.

another para, need ref or picture to describe

Obverse with the monarch's head in profile and Latin inscription "Rex Daniae" or "Regina Daniae" (from Latin: King or Queen of Denmark) and medalist signature. The reverse shows a winged figure, designed by sculptor Bertel Thorvaldsen, and "Ingenio et Arti". The recipient is inscribed around the rim of the medal.

Engraver

The medals (which exactly?) were engraved by (Hans Peter) Sophus Lindahl (1849–1935), Medaillør, whose name can be seen under the King's portrait.
