Biography

She is one of the most famous female singers in China, and has maintained her diva status since 2003. [1] She is also a songwriter who specializes in a variety of Chinese folk music. Her signature works are Tibetan Plateau (青藏高原) and Heaven's road (天路). She was born in Shigatse, the second largest city of Tibetan Autonomous Region. Like her mother, who's also a singer and who is of Tibetan ethnicity, Han Hong is able to shift quite easily from piercing high pitches to soft low tones. She performed in a Chinese television gala broadcast after the Olympic closing ceremony on August 24, 2008. She also performed at the 2008 Summer Paralympics opening ceremony on September 5, 2008.

Career

In 1971, she was born in Shigatse happily with a big family. However, at the age of 6 , her father died. "My father has left us, our life has been going worse and worse since his death. Because my mother was extremely busy working as an actor, I did not have a happy childhood at all."

In 1997,CCTV "Half Sky" crew has made a series of talk show and this show made a big change to her fate. At that time, the director of the show thought that Han Hong looks like Zhang Yue [2]who was a very talented TV presenter at CCTV. The director introduced many songs made by Han Hong to Zhang Yue and then Han Hong was invited to be a guest of Zhang Yue's show called " Do not worry about how you looks"[3].Although Han Hong was fat and common-looking, she presented herself in a confident and unique way at the show. After the show, Han Hong got a huge response online.

Popularity in the late 2000s

In the 1990s she was considered a frontline singer in the Beijing music scene.[4] He came to prominence after 2002.
