Sonnet 66
Broken and hopeless you left me before
And yet you try to re-enter my life.
Does the lion forgive the wandering boar?
Does the stab-wound forgive the bloody knife?
You will never know the pain that cuts deep
In my heart still from all your foolish games.
The nights that battled and won against sleep
And the self-hatred are some of its claims.
You alone were my life, my love, my soul;
I was your toy, to use and throw away.
What's different this time, you've realized your toll?
Now it is too late, I'm done with your play.
Find another puppet; this one is through.
Your playing is over. Good-by, adieu.
