Advertising Through Apps
[edit]As explained above, in 2007 Gilt Groupe was created at it was one of the first brands to create an online app that offers individuals clothes, furniture, and accessories from a multitude of brands at a lower price. However, they have lost a lot of usage through other up-and-coming apps.[1][2]Also, many other companies, for example Dote shopping, have been successful in the advertising world. in 2018, they raised 12 million dollars in net profit.[3]They are an app-based company who uses social media influencers as a way of marketing and advertising. The concept of the app is at it is a domain that holds different stores. For example, Urban Outfitters, American Eagle, Ugg are companies like these listed can be found within the dote shopping app.
Brand Influencers
[edit]Since 2010, the increase of brand influencers is a new type of marketing. A brand influencer, it's an individual who uses their social media platform as a leverage to promote brands with sponsored content. Many types of brand influencers are models, bloggers, and athletes. However, it is important to note that it is different than celebrity endorsement. A brand influencer has apart of a niche community that has an extensive following. This allows the brand to build trust between the followers and the influencer. [4] Companies also use brand influencers to narrow down their target audience. They take note of who uses social media the most and that allows them to morph their strategies. Generation Z is noted to be the largest group of individuals to use social media. 75% of Generation Z use Instagram for three hours or more. [5] Knowing this information, companies create swipe up features to allow their audience to shop right from the brand influencers Instagram stories. As of 2019, Instagram has a feature where individuals can put their credit card information into the app, and they can click on their favorite pieces of clothing or accessories and instantly purchase the items. This new feature allows the company to prompt influencers to tag prices and tag the company that they are working with website to increase purchases for themselves themselves. [6] In more modern terms, the tagging of companies websites is also known as affiliate links. This is where the brand influencer can earn a proceed if they receive enough traffic to their companies website.
Facebook:
[edit]Facebook is also powerful with their marketing/advertising strategies. It was created in February 2004 in Cambridge Massachusetts. It was a small little space where individuals could keep in touch, but it blew up into a social network where local businesses, multi billion dollar companies and even the day to day person can utilize it. Their audience consists over 160 million individuals. [7]Therefore, it's very affective for companies to market their brand with that large of a following. Their main approach is, "Do Social the Way you Want Social done to You". Facebook also has the power of the "like". When an individual "likes" a post, they will start to receive adds from that advertisement. This helps the company to get it's name across, but also encourage the individual to buy the product. Facebook also has to the tool of allowing individuals to share posts, This plays a similar role as the "like" in which it maximizes the seller to promote their brand. Lastly, Facebook has the ability to connect with other apps. This means that the user can sink their Instagram or youtube to their page and maximize foot traffic on all platforms. [8]
