User:Meters/Ananny socks

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

(User:Ananny) has been banned (August 2008), but has a long history (starting December 2006) of extensive promotional spamming and use of sockpuppets. Past activity involved creating articles about artist Terry Ananny or adding mention of Terry Ananny to articles, but more recent (2012) activity is to upload copies of artwork by Terry Ananny (with the artist credited simply as "A Canadian Artist") and then to add the images into articles (sometimes only loosely associated with the image) using short-lived IP socks. The uploaded files are usually removed after being tagged for not having correct proof of permission, but it might be more appropriate to use a Speedy G5 (Creations by banned or blocked users) template with db-banned|Ananny. 2014 activity includes creating article references that point to mentions of her work. Also repeatedly removes references to Ananny from some Talk, User, and Admin pages. April 2014: started adding refs and external links to pages that happen to show her artwork.

Some Wikipedia pages that refer to Ananny were deindexed or had content removed under OTRS in August 2012.

Note: may not be formally banned. See http://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/Wikipedia:Administrators%27_noticeboard/Archive237#Ban_proposal_of_User:Ananny --Meters (talk) 00:02, 13 September 2012 (UTC)
