Mehtab-Ud-Din (54, born on 15th December, 1963) at present resides in Mohali (Punjab, India) and has repute in the field of Punjabi Journalism. He served in the daily newspapers like Punjabi Jagran,
Spokesman, Punjabi Tribune, Amar Ujala, Desh Sewak, Preet Lari, Hamdard Weekly, Doordarshan Kendra Jalandhar (Jalandhar TV Station), All India Radio Chandigarh (as Casual News Reader) etc. Hundreds of articles have been written about him and his book in various newspapers, magazines by a number of leading Punjabi Writers and Critics. He has been busy in a research work of 'World Christian Dictionary'.
ORIGINAL CREATIONS

His first book 'Punjabi Mini Kahani - Praptiyan Te Sambhanavan' (Punjabi Mini Story - Achievements & Probabilities) was published in 1988, which is the first book about critical analysis of the genre i.e. Mini Story in Punjabi Literature. Now it is a reference book and is often quoted in various articles and theses. Mehtab-Ud-Din has also been honoured for this creation. His second book 'Thandhi Agg De Changiare' (The Sparks of Cold Fire) was an anthology of Mini Stories. He has also written a CHRISTIAN DICTIONARY. which is available upon http://www.christianfort.com/ . It couldn't be published in the book form. This 800 pages book contains A to Z words about Christianity and its world history. The words are in English and their elaborations in Punjabi & Hindi languages. This is a pioneer work about Christianity in Punjabi & Hindi languages. The book is still being updated and ultimately, it will be 800 page Dictionary. It has now 400 pages. It has been available at Christian Fort , since 2006.
PUNJABI & HINDI TRANSLATION OF 'O CANADA'
[edit]Mehtab-Ud-Din has translated the National Anthem of Canada i.e. 'O Canada' in to Punjabi & Hindi. It is a first time effort that the anthem has been translated in Hindi, the national language of India and in Punjabi, a language of the Punjab, India's North Western State. It can be seen upon the You-Tube also. Mr. Naushad Malik of Saharanpur (Uttar Pradesh, India) has sung it. It's Punjabi Version can also be seen/heard/enjoyed on You-Tube and its Hindi Version is also available on You-Tube. Ms. Shelly A. Glover, the Honourable Minister of Canadian Heritage and Official Languages has also appreciated Mehtab-Ud-Din’s efforts vide her letter 10th October, 2014. In addition, Ms. Christy Clark, the Hon. Premier of British Columbia (Canada) has also appreciated through her E-Mail Message dated 3rd September, 2014. She immediately sent both Punjabi & Hindi Translations of 'O Canada' to British Columbia's Multiculturalism Division.
TRANSLATED BOOKS

Mehtab-Ud-Din has translated four books till now. He translated the book 'Be the Best', written by Joginder Singh, former Director of Central Bureau of Investigation-India, from English into Punjabi under the Title 'Jitt Ton Agge' (Beyond Victory) in 2003. His second translation was an autobiography 'Annya Se Annanya' of HIndi writer Dr. Prabha Khaitan under the Title 'Aam Ton Khas' (From Common to Special) in 2013. Again, he translated a Travelogue 'Aapbeeti Jagbeeti' of Hindi writer Sandeep Bhutorria under the Title 'Haddbeeti Jagbeeti' (Inecdote) in 2013. Mehtab has also translated Prof. Sunil Anand's anthology of 500 short but the most inspirational and motivational stories 'Stories From Here & There' from English into Punjabi under the Title 'Khushi Da Raz' (The Secret of Happiness) in 2013. Mehtab has translated Mahatma Gandhi (Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi, INDIA's "FATHER OF NATION")'s AUTOBIOGRAPHY 'My Experiments with Truth' into Punjabi in 2014. He has translated Anupam Mishra's Hindi book 'Saaf Mathe Ka Samaaj' into Punjabi.
Mehtab-Ud-Din has translated Dr. S. Tarsem's Punjabi Autobiography (Kachi Mitti Pucca Rang) into Hindi (Kachi Mitti Ke Rang) also.
Mehtab has been writing since 1978. Though now he gets a little time to write, he is translating two other books, which are going to be published shortly. Another original book upon the Christians of the Punjab & India is also on the cards.
ALL INDIA RADIO & DOORDARSHAN

Mehtab has been a Punjabi News Reader (Casual) upon India's Public Broadcaster All India Radio, Chandigarh (All India Radio Jalandhar also relays the same news 'live' daily two times) for 11 years. He also worked as Researcher on Doordarshan JALANDHAR (Punjab,India) in 2002 for 6 months under the then News Reader Mr. Harbans Singh Sodhi
FILM PRODUCTION
[edit]Mehtab-Ud-Din has produced short Films, which are mostly biopics. e.g. 'Dr. Manjit Singh Bal: A Distinctive Personality' [A short film on a renowned Physician & Writer] & 'Indian Icon: Dr. Paramjeet Singh Ranu' [A Short film on the President, Sehajdhari Sikh Party]
Such type of various films and documentaries are in pipeline. He has also the dream to Produce & Direct a Hindi/Punjabi Feature Films and wants to fulfil it at the earliest.
Mehtab is a close and dear friend of mine i.e. JASPAL SINGH GULATI (of All India Radio, Chandigarh) and he has been collegue to me as News Reader--Punjabi for about 12 years now. Hundreds of people stand with the above-mentioned comments and call those fully justified.
