Syed Saifuddin Ahmed Maizbhandari (Arabic: سيد سيف الديسيد سيف الدين أحمد ميز بهانداري, Bengali: সৈয়দ সাইফুদ্দীন আহমদ মাইজভাণ্ডারী He was Born in 24 February 1967 – He is a Bengali Sufi saint and successor of the founder of the [[Maizbhandari Sufi Tariqa. [1]

Ancestry

Syed Saifuddin Ahmed's father was Syed Mainuddin Ahmed Maizbhandari. His great-grandfather was Gulamur Rahman Maizbhandari, nephew of Syed Ahmad Ullah Maizbhandari. His paternal ancestors were Syeds and originally migrated from Madinah to Gaur, the former capital of medieval Bengal, via Baghdad and Delhi. His ancestor, Hamid ad-Din, was the appointed Imam and Qadi of Gaur, but due to a sudden epidemic in the city, Hamid later migrated to Patiya in Chittagong District.[2] Hamid's son, Syed Abdul Qadir, was made the imam of Azimnagar in modern-day Fatikchhari.

Early life and education

Syed Saifuddin Ahmed Maizbhandari was born in a Bengali Muslim family in the village of Maizbhandar in the Bengal Presidency's District of Chittagong on 24 February 1967. Learning basic knowledge of Islam & Tasawwuf from his father Hazrat Mawlana Sayed Mainuddin Ahmed Al Hasani (R), Syed Saifuddin Ahmed Al Hasani completed his SSC from Muslim High School, Chattogram and HSC from Chittagong City College. Bachelor of Commerce, Chittagong University.

Later, he obtained a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Chattogram. He has visited throughout the world and famous spiritual places to learn about Sufism closely.

Personal life

He got married in 1995 to Syeda Kuti Saif. He has three sons. They are, Shahzada Syed Mehbub Mainuddin Al Hasani, Shahzada Syed Mashuk Mainuddin Al Hasani, Shahzada Syed Hasnain Mainuddin Al Hasani.

Political Party

He founded the Bangladesh Supreme Party (BSP) in 2019. It was registered by the Bangladesh Election Commission in 2023. The party has taken part in the 12th National Election of Bangladesh.

Social Activities

Syed Saifuddin Ahmed Mazbhandari is well known for his activities in the field of social welfare. He founded the Hazrat Syed Mainuddin Ahmed Maizbhandari Trust in 2013. The trust has been directing about 50 orphanages, mosques & libraries. It also arranges free medical camps for poor people in remote areas, provides relief support during natural disasters and epidemics, arranges training and distributes rickshaws, and sewing machines for resolving unemployment problems.

Mainia Youth Forum, a government-registered youth organisation dedicated to social welfare, was established by Syed Saifuddin Ahmed Al Hasani in 2013. The organisation has been making remarkable contributions to resist drug addiction, the dowry system, violence against women & children, and extremism. Additionally, Mainia Youth Forum was awarded the worthy "Sheikh Hasina Youth Volunteer Award 2020" from the Ministry of Youth & Sports for environmental conservation.

Syed Saifuddin Ahmed Maizbhandari is the chairman of "Anjuman-e-Rahmania Mainia Maizbhandaria" which was established by his father in 1988. This socio-religious organisation is involved in various religious, cultural & social welfare activities. Specially, this organisation organises one of the biggest Holy Eid-e-Miladaunnabi processions in the world every year in the capital of Bangladesh.

To extend rich Islamic culture in society he established Syed Mainuddin Ahmed Maizbhandari Calligraphy Foundation. This cultural organisation held the International Calligraphy Exhibition in 2019 at the National Museum of Bangladesh. Haji Noor Deen Mi Guang Jiang, a famous calligraphy artist was the chief guest at the ending ceremony of the exhibition.

He is also a patron of "Mainia Shishu-Kishore Mela", an organisation dedicated to children' welfare.

Achievements

1.He was awarded with the honorary doctorate degree from the International Academy of Sufi Scholars situated in the United Kingdom in 2023. He received his degree in his book “The Essence of Tasawwuf” and for his contribution to communal harmony, peace and humanity.

3.The Millennium World Peace Summit for Religious & Spiritual Leaders at the United Nations in the USA in 2000. 4.‘International Workshop On Sufism’ in Uzbekistan organized by UNESCO in 2000.
5.‘International Islamic Conference’ organized by ‘Ghana National Council’ and ‘US-based International Islamic Centre’ in 2005.
6.“International Sufi Symposium” organized by ‘The International Association of Sufism (IAS)’ in San Francisco California, USA in 2014.

8.‘Fez International Sufi Conference’ organized by ‘The International Academic Centre of Sufi and Aesthetic Studies (IACSAS)’ in Morocco in 2015.
