Background
[edit]I am currently a Phd researcher at the University of Sheffield, researching religion and the Gothic. I am co-organiser of Sheffield Gothic, organizing various Gothic events at the University of Sheffield including the Gothic Reading Group, and also the Re-imagining the Gothic project which includes the annual Reimagining the Gothic Symposium and Creative Showcase and the Reimagining the Gothic Website.
Academic Research
[edit]My PhD thesis explores the representation of Judaism in Romantic and Gothic fiction between 1790 and 1820. The texts I am focusing on include Matthew Lewis' The Monk (1797), George Walker's Theodore Cyphon (1797), Maria Edgeworth's Harrington (1817), and Charles Maturin's Melmoth the Wanderer (1820).
More broadly, I am interested the representation of religion in Gothic fiction of any period, and contribute to Sheffield Gothic's blog. My recent blog posts include

General Interests
[edit]I am an avid fan of vampire fiction, and in particular anything to do with Joss Whedon's Buffy the Vampire Slayer.
