Nicolaas maesschool
[edit]The Nicolaas maesschool is a public elementary school located in the south of Amsterdam. It has around 460 students divided over 17 classes. The building was constructed in 1916, and originally had 2 sustained 2 school, one of whom was the Nicolaas maesschool. After some time the school wanted to expand so they bought the other half of the building and turned it into one school, the Nicolaas maesschool.
history
[edit]The school was founded in 1916, it was a public school so everyone could go to this school. In the first few years there were relatively speaking many jews going to this school, but in 1942 they had to go to a special school in the Jan van Eykstraat, and most of the kids that had to go there did not survive.

The little Nicolaas
[edit]Since October 28, 2013, the little Nicolaas started as a branch of the Nicolaas Maes. Its close by the Amsterdams Lyceum, will eventually become an independent school. It is an elementary school, and if you go to this school you dont have to worry about not getting into an elementary school because you can directly go to the Nicolaas maesschool. It has 2 kindergarten classes and a first and a second grade.
