Matthew Y Johnson (Born October 21, 1988 ), Better know by his Stage name Matt U Johnson, Is a American Singer, Songwriter, Actor and performer. Born in Staten Island, New York
Matt U started his music career professionally in the five boroughs of New York City at the young age of 14. He is best known for his cameo roll in "A- Mentality" a national army recruitment commercial and his cameo on grammy winning reggae band Steel Pulse music video door of no return.
Music Career
[edit]Matt took vocal lessons and theory at Doctor Trogans music school in his home Brough of Staten Island at the age of 13. But it was not until a few years later as a freshman in college as a music major, That Matt saw promise in pursuing music and entertainment as a career path. Johnson Released his debut single My Life in 2013 and co headlined Minerpalooza with the Cataracs In 2014 in front of a crowd of tweenty five thousand people at UTEP. Matt went on to start his own Independent Record Label Inner V Music and released his first Ep Never Give Up also in 2015. In the following years Matt U Johnson has put out more international singles in the music scene including his latest with former Island def Jam recording artist Mann who features on a single called Hands Up in June of 2017. Johnson has also collaborated with Sony/Discowax Electronic Dj Treyy G from the hit record Trumpsta also in 2017 , and has worked on music and shows with him. These collaboration would lead to more exposure in overseas markets and further branding of Johnson's music .
Acting Career
[edit]Johnson has also dabbled in acting. He has played in The Sophomore which starred Bruce Willis, Fighting, Gossip girl, One life to live the soap opera, and Nights of prosperity doing minor rolls. He is most known for his national military commercial cameo in A- Mentality in 2013 long side Major Miles Caggins III , who severed in the Obama Administration. Matt has now been recently casted into a Western film Named Brothers James Retribution for 2017.
