I would like to have an easy way to patrol new pages, so I can rectify any articles in need of general grammatical improvement. I'm guessing here that the # sign was used intentionally in the template above, to give requesters a numerical order. Along the way, someone decided to go with the ===User:Username=== format. Anyhow, there has to be a better way to help maintain Wikipedia, other than manually finding the Deletion criteria page, hunting down the right tag, going back to the page, then pasting. This looks like it might be part of the solution. I'm game. Newportm (talk) 01:15, 26 June 2009 (UTC)

- You are correct, the tool is used for much more than speedy deletions, it can also PROD, AfD, and tag a for whole load of article issues. However, as the tool can be used for quick CSD tagging, and doesn't offer very good explanations of what each CSD is for, it is in general only granted to users who already show a good understanding of all areas of New Page Patrolling (including CSD tagging).
I suggest you read over Wikipedia:Criteria for Speedy Deletion, then have a go at patrolling and tagging articles for two or three weeks (depending on how active you are), and then come and request access again. Cheers - Kingpin13 (talk) 18:53, 8 August 2009 (UTC)

- Hi there Htmnssn, I'm not admin, so I can neither approve nor disapprove this request. However, I thought I should point out some things to you. Firstly, you have under the suggested 500 edits, this should be easily fixed, as it just requires more time. Secondly, you seem to be misunderstanding some of the CSD; this should not have been tagged as G1 only applies to articles where it is impossible to understand the page (e.g. "dvsfsvvf"), but with this page, it is clearly understandable. And this page should not have been tagged as A1 only applies to articles, which excludes redirects (see Wikipedia:What is an article?).
However, do not allow these mistakes to put you off new page patrolling; it's an area which always needs new users, and you seem capable of learning. I'd suggest you read through CSD and then continue your CSD tagging with that new knowlege. Cheers - Kingpin13 (talk) 20:56, 8 August 2009 (UTC) - Not done, per Kingpin13, mostly. I see that you have become much more prolific lately, which is great. My advice is that you take a little time off to familiarize yourself with WP:CSD, and consult that page whenever you're in doubt about whether a page qualifies for speedy deletion. If you follow these steps, you will be more than qualified when you reach the suggested 500 edits. Regards, decltype (talk) 00:44, 9 August 2009 (UTC)

- New page patroller for quite a while, currently use Twinkle but the interface on NPWatcher looks better and would like to give it a shot. - JRA_WestyQld2 Talk 05:09, 16 August 2009 (UTC)
- Not done. It does look like you've done speedy deletion work over a long span of time, even dating back to 2006. But looking at your deleted contribs I only see a few sparse taggings recently, which is just not enough to grant you access to the tool at this time. Try doing some more newpage patrolling, and re-apply in several days or so after you've gained additional experience. Best, JamieS93 be kind to newcomers 01:13, 20 August 2009 (UTC)

- I've been patrolling new pages for a few months now and I am fairly familar with WP:GNG as well as speedy delete/prod/afd process and guidelines. I keep several links to these on my user page for quick reference to make sure I am following guidelines. TParis00ap (talk) 16:37, 19 August 2009 (UTC)

- I've been patrolling recent edits and new pages, adding stub templates and using afd/csd when appropriate. I've had few arguments with editors, and feel that I have the experience to use this tool (I've been doing the job with TW). <3 bunny 17:07, 23 August 2009 (UTC)

- Oh! You're the guy who created all of the pages from wikispecies and sand boxes. Didn't notice it until I looked at the deleted contributions. Yeah, I don't see a problem letting you use this tool. Protonk (talk) 23:59, 9 September 2009 (UTC)
- I have studied the Wikipedia policies to use this tool. I would use the tool to review pages and act accordingly (request deletion of pages which do not meet with our standards). - JL 09 (talk · contribs · count · api · block log) I would like to use the tool for patrolling and reviewing pages. I am using Twinkle at this time for tagging new articles, that failed Wiki standards and subjected for deletion. I fully understand WP:CSD, the reason is that the articles I tagged has been reveiwed and successfully approved by a deleting admin. Thanks.--JL 09 q?c 13:21, 17 September 2009 (UTC)

- Declan Davis (talk · contribs · count · api · block log) I've been editing for over a year and have made almost 4,000 edits. I already have rollback rights and have been using Huggle and Twinkle to combat vandalism. I have made almost 1,500 edits using Huggle and almost 120 using Twinkle. Please see my automated edit breakdown. I've been tagging new pages manually but this is often frustration: it takes a lot of time and effort. With an automated tool I could optimise the use of my time (as I have done with Huggle). I am requesting NPW because I would like to branch out and help Wikipedia in other, but related, ways. ~~ Dr Dec (Talk) ~~ 15:03, 20 September 2009 (UTC)
