I would like to update the sentence on NPWT to say that “there is conflicting evidence to suggest the effectiveness of negative pressure wound therapy, with several sources citing a decreased risk in infection, [1][2] and others suggesting no proven benefit.[3]
I would like to update the section on wound debridement and closure to include the following sentence: “The optimal timing of performing wound debridement and closure is debated and dependent on the severity of the injury, resources and antibiotics available, and individual needs.[4] Debridement time can vary from 6 to 72 hours, and closure time can be immediate (less than 72 hours) or delayed (72 hours to up to 3 months)”.[4]
I also found a high quality prospective, randomized, hospital based study which found that the outcomes achieved when using water versus saline are comparable.[5] Since this article is current (published in 2017) and the Wikipedia page lacks a citation for this statement, I would like to add this source to the page.
I propose to add the sentence “amputation is a last resort intervention, and is determined by factors such as tissue viability and coverage, infection, and the extent of damage to the vascular system”.[1] I would also like to link the word ‘amputation’ to the Wikipedia page on amputation in order to provide patients with direct access to more information.

[edit]Thanks for sharing your proposed changes. I have a few notes:
- Citations are placed immediately after the punctuation like this.1
- If you have commas your sentence would look like this,1 and like this.2 Please keep an eye on the extra spaces and commas added.
- Citation needed tag added. You may re-use the same citation if appropriate.
- Be sure to not use the word patients in WP article. I think you just used it above in your description of you edit though.
Great work so far!
