Mahendra Prasad Sharma was born in a respectable brahamin family of Village-Darora,District Bulandshahr of Western Uttar Pradesh.His Grand Father was a British Period Advocate.His Father Sri.Himanchal Prasad Sharma was a Block Development Officer,when he was born.His mother Smt.Ramkumari Devi was a housewife.

He was commissioned as Pilot Officer in Indian Air Force as Tranport Pilot.He got married to Mrs.Kalpana Sharma on 05 Feb 1990.He served at various important & prestigious Transport Bases/Units of Indian Air Force,during the service.As a transport pilot he extensively operated operational sorties to far flung & remote areas of Eastern India,Leh Ladakh including Siachen Glacier & Daulat Beg Oldie area.Apart from being part of Indian Peace Keeping Forces In Srilanka,he also participated in Kargil Operations & many other operational sorties including Pokhran-2.He was suitably rewarded with meritorious service medals accordingly.He also participated in Republic Day Flypast by flying an AN-32 aircraft in Big Boy Formation as Commander,on 26 Jan 1999.

He took premature retirement from Indian Air Force on 30 Nov 2005,due to his son’s serious health problems.His 16 years old son named Mohit Sharma passed away in year 2007.His daughter Miss.Khyati Sharma completed her Master's at Law from Jindal Global Law School,Sonipat( Haryana).

Wing Commander Mahendra Prasad Sharma has flown total of 15400 hours on various aircrafts including Airbus-320 Family, Antonov-32,Hawker Siddley-748,Hindustan Jet Trainer-16,Beechcraft-200 & Micrilight Zenair.He is also pursuing his hobbies of Hindi Poetry & Social Service in his spare time.He along with his wife Mrs.Kalpana Sharma has further started a Trust named “Kriyanjali Cultural & Rehabilatation Trust”,in memory of his Late son Mohit Sharma to assist handicapped & underprivileged artists.
