Sheikh Mubarak Abdullah Al Mubarak Al-Sabah is a Kuwaiti national. In 2017, the Government of France awarded him one of the highest civilian decorated honour with title of Chevalier de la Legion d'Honneur - the Knight of the Legion of Honor (see picture right)[1] for his role in supporting philanthropy and encouraging French-Kuwait cultural and entrepreneurship causes. His interest also includes advocating philanthropy and charity initiatives that focuses on education, arts and culture causes. Since 2002, Mubarak is a benefactor and supporter of his Alma Mater University of Cambridge[2] by funding a Research Fellowships[3] to graduate students and post-doctoral scholars that focuses on academic research at British Universities.[4] Mubarak holds a seat as a member of Fellow Commoners[5] of the University of Cambridge.[6]
Mubarak is a member of the Kuwaiti royal family House of Sabah, since 1998, he actively supports charity and philanthropic endeavors on education and culture, and as an investor advocates entrepreneurship initiatives.
FAMILY BACKGROUND:
[edit]Mubarak Abdullah Al Mubarak Al Sabah, (born 18 May 1976) is the youngest grandson of the founder of modern Kuwait, the seventh ruler Mubarak Al-Sabah . known as Sheikh Mubarak “The Great” (b. 1839 – d. 1915), is founder of modern Kuwait, reigned as ruler from 1896 to 1915, and was responsible for maintaining Kuwait’s independence by successfully executing British-Kuwait Treaty [7] of 1899.
Mubarak’s father is Abdullah Al-Mubarak Al-Sabah (b. 1914 – d. 1991) Abdullah-Mubarak-Al-Sabah- Transformation-Kuwait, was Deputy Ruler of the State of Kuwait from 1950 to 1961, was awarded an Honorary KCMG in 1959 by H.M. Queen Elizabeth II for promoting British-Kuwaiti relations, and his mother is Dr.Souad Al-Sabah [8] , awarded Commander of the British Empire (CBE) by H.M. Queen Elizabeth II for her role in promoting British-Kuwaiti relations. She is a prominent poet, artist, author and economist, completed her PhD studies at the University of Surrey (UK)[9].
EARLY LIFE AND EDUCATION:
[edit]Mubarak gained primary level education at Collège du Léman School - Geneva Switzerland, later he completed his International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE), accredited by the University of Cambridge at New English School.
After completion high school, he was accepted at prestigious United Kingdom’s military academy, Royal Military Academy Sandhurst - British Army(RMAS) , graduating as Commissioning Officer.
Subsequently, he attended University of Buckingham graduating with honours and is awarded Bachelor Degree of Arts, majoring in Politics & Economics. Next, he obtained Masters of Philosophy in International Relations from, Pembroke College, University of Cambridge. He is fluent in Arabic, English and speaks French.
Mubarak gained a Master of Philosophy degree in International Relations and Economics from Pembroke College - University of Cambridge. His interest is advocating philanthropy and charity initiatives that focuses on education and culture. Since 2002, Mubarak is a benefactor and supporter of the University of Cambridge[10] by funding a Research Fellowships[11] to graduate students and post-doctoral scholars that focuses on academic research and specialization on Middle Eastern Economics and Politics Studies at British universities.[12] Mubarak holds a seat as a member of Fellow Commoners[13] of the University of Cambridge.[14]
PHILANTHROPY AND CHARITY:
[edit]For the past 12 years Sheikh Mubarak has been a major benefactor of his alma mater Pembroke College at the University of Cambridge. Through the UK based charitable foundation named after his later father, Abdullah Mubarak Al-Sabah Foundation[15] he has funded a prestigious Research Fellowship in Middle Eastern Studies at the college enabling post-doctoral scholars to establish their careers and improve understanding of the region in the west.
The Rt. Hon. Lord (Chris) Smith, Master of Pembroke College[16], said: “Developing our understanding of culture, history and society of the Middle East and the Islamic world has never been more important than now; and the generosity of Sheikh Mubarak in sponsoring academic research and discovery here at Pembroke College is especially deeply valued.”
Mubarak Al-Sabah sponsors and supports students by providing scholarships to encourage more people to pursue postgraduate studies in disciplines related to the Middle East in British universities. The scholarships are given under his later father foundation name, The Abdullah Al-Mubarak Al-Sabah Foundation in cooperation with The British Society for Middle Eastern Studies (BRISMES Scholarships)[17] - The Abdullah Mubarak Brismes Scholarshp - BRISMES.
He also sponsors since 1998 an annual prize in cooperation with the British-Kuwait Friendship Association Bookprize[18] for the best scholarly work in English on the Middle East which has been published in its first edition in the United Kingdom.[19]

[edit]Mubarak is an entrepreneur, The Arabian Business published that Kuwaiti royal Sheikh Mubarak Al Abdullah Al Mubarak Al Sabah is a pioneer among the Gulf's hospitality sector, credited with introducing the midmarket sector to the region[1] he is Founding Chairman of the United Kingdom based AGH’s Hospitality and Leisure subsidiary, under the name, Action Hotels plc - London Stock Exchange , according to the British newspaper, The Telegraph [20], Action successfully became the first middle eastern and Gulf based company to be listed on London’s AIM market. According to the UK's Financial Times, Action Hotels is owner, developer and asset manager of branded three and four star hotels in the Middle East and Australia.
The main vehicle for Mubarak's business portfolio stated by Bloomberg [21] Action Group Holdings (AGH) which has interests in investment, real estate, oil & gas, infrastructure, construction, logistics, hospitality, tourism and retail as well as significant operations in consulting, training, and the education sectors.
Military:
[edit]After graduating from the prestigious United Kingdom’s Military Academy, Royal Military Academy Sandhurst - British Army(RMAS) , graduating as Commissioning Officer. Mubarak joined Ministry of Defense of Kuwait as a 2nd Lieutenant in the Kuwait Armed Forces, and served at the 151 Armored Battalion and Brigade.
AWARDS AND RECOGNITIONS:
[edit]In 2019, as Action Hotels' Chairman, Sheikh Mubarak leads winners at Arabian Business Kuwait Awards [2] In 2017, The Government of France[22] granted Mubarak the most prestigious civilian decoration honour “Chevalier de la Legion d'Honneur - the Knight of the Legion of Honor, for his role in supporting French Kuwait's economic interests.
He is selected by World Economic Forum -The Forum of Young Global Leaders as one of the Young Global Leaders under 40, committed to improving the state of the world, a force for good, scaling individual and collective solutions to global and local challenges. WEF is Swiss based International Organization for Public-Private Cooperation, Active Young Global Leaders - weforum.org - World Economic Forum.[23] The WEF is made up of leaders from all walks of life, from every region of the world, and from every stakeholder group in society.[24]
