In "Orb-weaving spider Araneus ventricosus genome elucidates the spidroin gene catalogue," Kono and co-authors discuss the genetic components of Araneus ventricosus and the species' recent acquisition of the MaSp3 gene, as well as the phylogeny behind their ability to produce silk strands.[1]
