David Campbell (1864–1911) was an American boxer and firefighter.
Biography
[edit]Campbell was born in Pittsburg, Pennsylvania, in 1864.[1][unreliable source?] He gained recognition in Portland, Oregon, as a boxer. He later joined the Portland Fire Department, eventually rising to fire chief. Campbell was killed on June 26, 1911, while responding to a fire at a Union Oil distribution plant.[2] The David Campbell Memorial was dedicated in 1928 in his memory.[3]
