Hello! Please call me Lily! I am a gender non-conforming American person with a modest range of interests, but I'm here on Wikipedia because I support its free, collaborative, and open nature. I hope to make high-quality, verifiable contributions to pages within my knowledge base, and, of course, read and learn from articles outside of it.
Getting into more personal detail, I'm undergraduate student majoring in linguistics! Within that, my interests lie mostly in language acquisition and practical applications of linguistic theory. TESOL greatly appeals to me, though I'm not quite ready to plan a long term career yet. As far as my own fluency goes, English is my native language, Japanese is my primary second language of study, and French is my more haphazard third. I also intend to learn more of Occitan, Hawaiian, Thai, Swahili, and Arabic - albeit each with varying goals regarding proficiency.
My minor official fields of study are multidisciplinary, but center around the study of refugee/forced migration and diaspora issues along with multicultural education. In addition to those, unofficially I take a hobbyist's approach to cosmology, philosophy, history, and literature. Pet interests there include astronomy, metaphysics, gender and sexuality, 19th century France (in both history and literature), fashion and costume, and dance.
Some of these will certainly show up in my contributions to the project over time; some of them most likely won't. Regardless, I strive to make every contribution of mine as encyclopedic, verifiable, and open as possible.

- I have edited this page in the past; it remains on my watchlist. I plan to contribute to this page more in the future, with hopes of expanding it enough to reach C-Class status or higher.
There are many more pages I would like to edit, but it is easier for me to focus on one or two pages at once while I adjust to how Wikipedia works!
