I realised, while being part of the Advancing Women Artists Foundation, that there is a lack of representation not only of women artists, but also of women who have dedicated their careers to improving the well-being of their communities. For this I would like to begin by writing an article for Pompea Smith and all she has accomplished during her career with SEE-LA, the association which she founded. I am a professor currently teaching writing in the English Department for Brandeis University's study abroad program in Florence, Italy. I have also worked as an adjunct for New York University, Syracuse University, and Florence University of the Arts.
