Tedesco's first exposure to music was through his father’s record collection, which included doo-wop, traditional country, and bluegrass.[2] Tedesco's music fuses these influences. Tedesco likes to mix styles. Tedesco says that playing with Gorgo Beach took the music and band to a new level. Tedesco met Beach when he saw Beach hitch hiking in a severe storm, and stopped to help him out.[2] Beach's mandolin style described as unique, lyrical and compelling. The band was also inspired by a performance of Sarah Donner, who is accompanied by an upright, and a Cajon player.[2][3]
Tedesco is the sole composer of most of his songs, but sometimes collaborates with Gregory Schwartz and John Laidlaw.[2] He produced his most recent CD, Full Fathom 5, with the help of Gorgo Beach and Tom Camuso in Camuso’s Greenpoint studio, Studio E (tomcamuso.com).[2] Camuso was the recipient of a “Best Contemporary Folk/Americana Album” Grammy for engineering Steve Earle’s Washington Square Serenade.[2] Full Fathom 5 has been well received by a surprisingly diverse demographic, ranging from Ian of MacKenzie Smith, to heavy metal bands like OS101 and Useless, and people sharing it with friends from church.[2][4]
David John De Horton (popatunes.blogspot.com), a national blogger and music enthusiast, asked Tedesco to play Couch By Couchwest (CXCW).[2]
