CSA Pi vz.15 (Pistole vzor 15) is a Czech polymer-framed, striker-fired semi-automatic pistol chambered in 9x19mm Parabellum. It is manufactured by Czech Small Arms, which is more known manufacturing modern copies of vz. 58 semi-automatic rifles and carbines and vz. 61 Škorpion semi-automatic pistols for the civilian market.
History
[edit]As per the pistol's name, it's possible that development started in 2015. It was introduced in 2017 and exhibited at several gun shows in Europe and the United States, the Czech Small Arms said that the pistol would start sale at the end of summer of 2017, which did not occur.[1]
Design
[edit]The vz. 15 is a semi-automatic, short recoil operated, striker-fired, locked breech pistol. It uses a Browning-style locking and double-action trigger patterned after that of Roth-Steyr M1907.[1] The barrel bore axis is 10mm above the grip. The pistol feeds through 17 round Springfield XD double-stack metal magazines manufactured by MEC-GAR, the pistol will accept any Springfield XD/HS2000 magazines.[2][3]
It further features ambidextrous controls, a Glock-style safety, three-dot sights and a Picatinny rail for accessories.[1]
The pistol comes in a dedicated molded case with two magazines, instructions manual, a cleaning kit and a dedicated polymer holster.[3]
Reception and availability
[edit]The reception has been limited, vz. 15 was praised for it's ultra low bore axis, which at the time of it's introduction was reported to be the lowest available in a semi-automatic pistol. It also received praise for it's ability to be field-stripped without releasing or decocking the striker.[1]
CSA reported that the pistol would start shipping at the end of summer of 2017, but this did not happen and the pistol never entered sale. In 2019, a user on a czech firearms forum strelectvi.cz contacted Czech Small Arms regarding the availability and wrote that the manufacturer "doesn't know and doesn't want to give a term anymore".[4]
The sale and availabilty remains non-existent for unknown reasons. As of June 2024, it is still remains listed on Czech Small Arms website catalog but is not offered for sale anywhere.
