Applying A* criteria to submitted drafts

A year ago AfC submissions were 30-50 a day. Today we get 250 or more per day. This is because of various changes in how we funnel new and COI editors and perhaps a general increase in paid editing. Wikipedia:WikiProject_Articles_for_creation/Submissions (stats here) During ACTRIAL the submissions were even higher, and will jump again with WP:ACREQ. AFC is the new NPR feed, but shifted into Draftspace. There has been no expansion of tools to deal with inappropriate submissions has followed this growth. AfC is forced to repeatedly decline pages User:JJMC89_bot/report/AfC_decline_counts as many as 10 times. The insistence of a few that WP:NMFD reflects policy and practice limits the use of MfD to remove hopeless submissions. We have modified the Submit buttons to make clear pushing Submit means you want the Draft reviewed by and experienced user for inclusion in Wikipedia.

Each AfC submitted page should be treated much like a new mainspace page. NPR AFC Patrol Approve Tag Decline/Comment/Tag Draftify. Decline for more work AfD Should be MfD but not really PROD No equivalent. Decline until the creator wanders off? CSD G2/3/10/11/12. Same CSD A7/A9 deal with multiple resubmissions from COI editors on hopeless topics.

I agree, ever since ACTRAL started, the deluge of new content went from NPP to AfC. However, it doesn't seem right to, say, A7 a submitted draft on it's first submission. That said, we need measures to deal with 8-times-declined drafts, nonstarters, and other problematic drafts. I've proposed it before, what about expanding PROD to draftspace? Some stuff should be speedied immediately as non-notable. Other stuff we wait a bit for sources. Same as in mainspace. Draft PROD is problematic because no one is watching most drafts, but simply treating MfD as an advertised Prod would be great. No objections delete after a week. Yes, there should be a way to expediently delete drafts that have no potential. Fair point on an actual draftprod, MfD as an advertised prod seems fair enough. Jjjjjjdddddd (talk) 23:47, 8 April 2018 (UTC)
