History on how the Paul Bunyan Lumberjack Show got its start. The first show ever done by owner/producer Lee LeCaptain was in 1971.It was for the Centennial of the Peshtigo Fire of October 8th 1971. The first show were four performing people; Lee LeCaptain, Connie LeCaptain, Fred Sayklly and Missy Sayklly. The show was called The River Kids. This show name performed up to 1978. The name then change to the Great American Lumberjack Show from 1978 to 1982. in 1982 the name changed to One Helluva Show for one year. The name went back to the name Great American Lumberjack Show from 1984 to 1988 when it was then changed permanently to the name of Paul Bunyan Lumberjack Show in 1988 in Green Bay, Wisconsin. The trademark request was first filed in Green Bay then but not fully completed until June 11th. 2013. Since 1988 the name Paul Bunyan Lumberjack show existed both as a traveling show and permanent show for fairs, festivals ,and theme parks. The Paul Bunyan Lumberjack Show also produced a permanent Lumberjack Show at Walt Disney World Epcot Florida from 2014 to 2015 called the Canadian Lumberjacks.

Since the full conception of the Paul Bunyan Lumberjack Show, it has reached over 1.000,000,000 billion people Worldwide on five different continents through live performances, Television and commercials, and social media.

In 1974 the River kids became ambassadors of Good Will for the State of Michigan at Expo 74 World's Fair in Spokane, Washington.
